Admittedly, the Busan baseball team Lotte Giants aren’t really that successful. If I’m not wrong, they’re somewhere in the middle of KBO’s standing. Still, their fans are known all across the country for its fervor and amazing atmosphere they create at their team’s games. This is why I think seeing Lotte Giants at home is a must if you ever visit Busan.
Sajik, the stadium where Lotte Giants games are held, is part of the Busan Sport Complex, where you can also visit some other facilities that were used for the 2002 World Cup. The stadium itself is really fun, with lots of stuff to do, buy and eat. There’s an official Lotte Giants merch shop, which is not at all expensive, and you can get al kinds of colorful jerseys, caps and other stuff – both serious and cute. When it comes to food, Sajik stadiums is an absolute paradise. You would expect snacks and drinks would be terribly overpriced at a sports venue, but that is not the case at all in Korea. Here, you can try everything, from Western foods like hamburgers and fries to Korean delicacies such as mandu, deep-fried squid, kimbap – or if you prefer the happy medium like the Korean-style fried chicken and pizza. The game itself is super exciting – there’s an official hype guy who, along with a group of cheerleaders animates the crowd, having a special song for each player. Even if you don’t speak Korean, you’ll be able to join in on the fun!
