Hanoi, Vietnam for Leisure, November 2015

My first trip ever to Asia started in Hanoi as I was visiting Vietnam and Cambodia. Hanoi enchanted so much more than I ever thought it could. Sure as a history buff, the prospects of seeing the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the Hanoi Hilton, the museums and all the vestiges of the French and American military involvements after World War II were quenched, but it was the charming small streets and tree lined roads smacked against the cacophony of motorbikes was mesmerizing. Eating noodles on small plastic chairs, drinking dollar beers (35 cents at Bia Hoi, or beer corner), cheap North Face (though they do make the stuff there) stuff everywhere, and the coffee. Oh the coffee. I have had Vietnamese coffee back at home, but I must have downed 5 or six cups a day of the stuff as I could not get enough.

Insider Tip

The secret to crossing streets is really to play leap frogger. It became alot of fun for me after awhile.
