Poppie’s is an institution of London for nothing short of authentic fish and chips. Pops has been doing fish and chips since 1952 when he open his stand. Its nice that all of the fish used is 100% sustainable, it is claimed that the fish is caught on day boats and then delivered to the shop by third generation Billingsgate fishmongers. I was surprised when I arrived, the appearance of Poppie’s is completely classic but also hip and in a new way very modern. Maybe it is that it has never changed and the decor has came back in style? Although I think there is a lot of thought that goes into the whole operation at Poppie’s. I ordered a regular traditional fish and chips meal, it came quick, hot, and with no complaints by me. It was fantastic. I felt like I could have been a true Londoner for a moment.
