Newcastle, WA, United States for Golf at the Golf Club of at Newcastle

The Golf Club at Newcastle features amazing views of Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, and the Seattle skyline throughout its 36 holes of championship golf. Designed by Robert E. Cupp, with a hand from Seattle’s favorite golfing son, Fred Couples, both the Coal Creek and China Creek courses offer unique golfing experiences.

If you are going to play one of them, I’d suggest, the signature Coal Creek course, it’s one of the tougher challenges in all of Washington State from any of their tee boxes. If you play both, China Creek allows a more relaxed test – but you’ll want to stay in the fairways there. If you get out on Coal and if it all possible either play with someone who has played the course or do a little research on the layout. There are some blind shots and trouble is all over the place.

The greens roll very well and the fairway, tee boxes and sand traps are all very well-manicured. The great shape of the course is reflected in the fees, rates range from $150-$250. If you play in the summer and want to cut cost, take advantage of the twilight rates as they offer 20% discounts.

Be sure to save time for a few drinks and some of their fine food offerings in their spectacular 44,000 square foot clubhouse. Go upstairs in the billiard room where they server a full menu and count up your strokes, it might take a while…
