Portland for The Tulip Festival

We had a friend living up in Portland and got an email from Jetblue about some cheap tickets to get up there, so we pulled the trigger and made a weekend of it. We didn’t really have anything on the agenda but by chance we were there during the Tulip Festival which runs from late March to early May, so being that we were staying with a couple of florists, it seemed appropriate that we’d make the half hour journey down to Woodburn to take in some of the Northwest’s somewhat natural beauty (somewhat meaning I don’t know how “natural” an entire field of tulips in Oregon.

The festival is a really good time and well worth the minor ticket fee. The girls all loved it and I enjoyed myself as well. Seeing all the different colors with Mt. Hood in the background was a truly unique experience. Portland has a lot of fun things in town, but it was nice to get beyond city limits for something that you’re not going to get to do anywhere else. I’ve been to some other flower fields but this one is top notch, so provided you have a way to get down there while in Portland, definitely do it.
