Spring getaway for my wife and I.
Stayed at the lodges and went for dinner at May. There’s a lot of great Asian restaurants in Seattle but I would hold up May to any of them! Seriously creative, super bold flavors, creative cocktails (Habanero Old fashionelovedd great music. It was packed for good reason!
The lodges are really cool. Modern, great design elements, comfortable and new. Fast WiFi and cable TV for a little sports center before bed.
The next morning was a bike ride from Vashon town center to Maury island. Did about 10 miles, 1000 feet of climbing. Hilly but not bad and with some nice waterfront riding at times. The next day we rode the norh side of the island which was a little greener.
Lunch was at zombiez burgers,an eclectic burger joint (chef used to be at Columbia tower club) – fantastic.
Afternoon was napping, enjoying the deck (cornhole was being played by other guests) and a quick jaunt to the farmers market. We also did a quick trip to Dragons Head cidery, about a mile from town. They had a great little pond and sitting area (note the chandelier above my wife’s head!)
For dinner we started at ‘the hardware store’ but the vibe wasnt there and 2 minutes in we said ‘let’s just go back to May’! So we did. More Habanero cocktails and dishes we couldn’t pronounce but loved to eat. We had a little fireplace time back at the lodges before turning in.
An easy trip back to Seattle on Sunday midday made his a great getaway!
1. Make reservations at May. 2. If you don’t mind the 8 Mike bike ride, I would try and leave the car at home next time!
