The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route stretches from Banff, Alberta, to the border of Mexico. We spent five weeks on the road, camping mostly but staying in motels once or twice a week for the sheer luxury of a soft bed. We started north of the U.S. border and finished just west of Denver — 2750 kms (1700 miles). The beauty of the route is that you can ride it for a day, a week, or a month or more. It was difficult, at times, but it was one of those experiences we hearken back to again and again — elemental, challenging, life-affirming.
